My contribution to :icongame-art-hq:'s Zelda tribute: Link's Blacklist. I chose the Darknut from Windwaker for my monster, though it was really hard trying to decide between this guy and the Poes from Ocarina of Time. ^^; But in the end I opted for the Darknut, just because he's cool. :>

Perhaps you've seen some of the other art for this tribute going around DA? There's really some cool art that's been done so far, so you should definitely swing by and check it out if you've got time!

Actually, I almost didn't make my deadline for this pic. Everyone participating has a slightly different deadline, and I didn't realize mine was coming up so fast (like in two days) so I went ahead and finished mine up today before I forgot again. XD

I might be late for the party but let me say this: I used to prefer the Twilight Princess darknuts, but I recently took a liking to the Wind Waker Darknut's design. I feel like there's a lot more to it than just the usual generic heavily-armored-miniboss, as well as story potential. I want to know more about these demonic jackal/doberman people. Where do they come from? Did Ganon summon them from some hellish dimension to do his evil bidding, or are they a race native to some remote part of Hyrule, which was enslaved by him to turn into savage armored warriors? Also, this depiction in particular, along with some of the comments, has potential for gameplay design: The Darknut starts off slow, , heavily armored, calm and controlled, but once Link strips him of it, he does not just get a little faster and stronger, but goes into downright beastly berserk rage, trading high defense for not just speed but also attack power!

If Team Zelda decides to bring back the Darknut for a future game, let it be this version.
