Lol, I'm making a joke about Gin's name. Get it? Get it? Okay I'll go sit in the corner now. >_<

Late night drawing and whatnot. I would be in bed, but that would be silly because everyone else here is awake, so why should I go to bed? XD No, I'm going to bed here in a minute... because it's late and I'm rambling.

But yes, these are sketches of my OC Gin that I did just as some character exploration and whatnot. Trying to figure out some different aspects of his design and how his clothing and hair work, etc. Gin is actually a bit difficult to draw sometimes, despite how simple his design looks (so much fabric). >_< So I also did these just as practice for him. Also, the cat isn't Gin's pet or anything. The Clover Club is full of free roaming cats, so I thought I'd draw one here just for fun. (Plus Gin likes cats) Also, I'm still toying with how much I want Gin to be able to turn into his actual Shishi form. I've decided at this point that he can at least a tiny bit (hence the upper left pic), but I'm still not sure if I actually want to give him the ability to change into a full blown Shishi. I guess it's mostly because unlike everyone else I've seen with a Shishi character in CC, Gin is possessing a human body- it's not actually his. So I'm thinking that turning into a giant lion monster would kind of destroy the body he's using, which wouldn't exactly be good for him, you know? :/ So for the time being, he can only change as far as things that don't really damage his body much. So mostly some changes in the face, hands, feet, etc- things that can be easily reversed or repaired.
Not much to it other than that. Oh, except I also did a drawing here to show you guys what Gin's clothes look like without the cloak. Also some sketches to show what his face actually looks like without the hair in his eyes. Gin doesn't have the hair in his eyes because he's trying to hide his face or anything, that's just how his hair is. So it's not uncommon for him to push his hair out of the way for a bit to get a better look at things.

You asian themed designs are a really neat and colorful twist on your characters. It adds a whole new culture to them which I just love seeing! I hope I can get my own characters to have such a distinctive theme.
Thanks for posting its fun seeing your drawings.

Thank you! And I'm sure eventually you'll get your own characters to a point where you're satisfied with their styles! ^^

Quick question, are the boots just boots, or does he have paws underneath? Also, is that a dead bird in the bottom?

They're just boots, but they have a pawprint pattern on the sole. He has regular human feet, but the boots actually wear like a heel, which is how they get the weird shape. :>

Ohhh that's so cool. They remind me of the art style in How To Train Your Dragon.

Oh yeah I love that they did that in HTTYD. I've like kind of boot shape ever since playing Megaman as a kid though. Gotta love the big chuncky lower leg shape. It makes for a great silhouette. ^^

It does! ^^ I think I might tinker around with some character design since it's not my strong suit... Any advice?
