Time for some school work! This is part of a larger project for my entertainment illustration class. Basically, for the class every student has to come up with an idea for either a feature film, a short film, a video game, or a graphic novel, and then do a large portion of it's preproduction design.. I chose to do an animated feature film. :3 It's called The Sky Herder (loosely inspired by this pic I did over the winter, but not actually based on it- [link] You may see the pose I did in here as a callback to it though. :3)
Anyhoo, this is the story's protagonist; Mier. I'll put up the colored vignette of him when it gets finished. Technically I already have one completed, but it's not his official piece, so I probably won't put it up. By next Tuesday though, Mier will have a full turnaround, a construction sheet, an expression sheet (which I'm almost done with), and a full color pic. XD I'll tell you more about it later, but right now I don't feel like typing it out. XD
Yeah, this part of the assignment was pretty basic- just a sheet of poses to show how your protagonist can move and how their clothing moves with them. Mier's typical outfit has all three layers of his "shirt" but I did some with different levels of how he wears his clothes. Oh, and we get bonus points if we drew our character slipping on a banana peel. XD
P.S. Mier's "weapon" isn't a staff- it's a shepherd's crook. Because he's a shepherd. :I
Art, character, titles and logos property of NOT for other's use
Hi! Question: I have no intention of stealing character or art, but I am trying (unsuccessfully right now) to write/illustrate a graphic novel, and I wanted to know if it's OK to use the poses in this pic, nothing else, just two or three of the action poses, with credit to you. I'm trying to keep this project/characters simple so that I can complete it by the end of the year. Thanks! I love this character. I think it would be super cool if you actually did a feature film with him. And I like the title.
Yeah, it's okay for you to reference the poses so long as you don't do any direct copying, and credit back to me like you said! ^^ And I'd love to see the product whenever you post it!
Oh yeah, Sky Herder is actually my Bachelor's project so I've been doing a lot with them. In fact, the art style of the project has changed a bit since these drawings, so this character is drawn a bit differently now.
I wished I had a class like this in art school. Oh well. Love the different poses. His personality reminds me of Aang( Avatar series). I hope you you don't get offended by that. Either way, I love it
Whats interesting is I can kind of get a feel of what this kid's personality is... I mean I might be wrong... but I like how your poses (which are awesome by the way) really broadcast what kind of character he is
Thank you! ^^ And since these are for a specific project, I'd prefer if you didn't use them as reference. But I've got another sketch gesture sheet in my gallery that I let people use if you're interested in that. ^^
