Galatea by Turtle-Arts Galatea by Turtle-Arts
School work. We got the assignment to take a piece from the high renaissance period and redesign it as a t-shirt/post card/whatever. I chose Raphael's "Triumph of Galatea" fresco. Which, if you're not familiar with the actual image, you can see it here ->[link] I actually had a lot of fun doing this little pic, and I'm rather pleased with how it turned out, so that's nice. And I figured I'd share with you guys, since I don't have many fully finished images to share, as of late. :I So yes, enjoy! ^^

Gorgeous and whimsical, I enjoy this blocked style so much. The earthy tones blend so well together and this image has great composition!

Composition wise, it looks like one of those art nouveau paintings. Yet at the same time, the use of strong lines and how structured the shapes are remind me of art deco paintings. It's a nice balance ;)

I think this translated very well! And I like how you used the bow and arrow at the top to complete the "A" In Galatea.

Thanks! Yeah, this is kind of more how I doodle in my sketchbooks. I should do more pics drawn like this. It's so much faster. XD

Lovely redesign~ The muted colors remind me of autumn... also, I think I actually like this quite a bit more than the original... but then, cherubs kind of creep me out :|

Thank you! And lol, I'm not fond of cherubs either. But really, in my opinion their bows were the only really important aspect to have in this version.

oh man, I remember that picture from a college art class on women in art a few quarters ago. I think my teacher would be rather intrigued by this! As am I.
I really love this style and portrayal of her!
