Closing out the year by Turtle-Arts Closing out the year by Turtle-Arts
One last sketch to usher out 2013. Been working designing logos all day, so I needed to do something else to end the year with… something pokemon related. lol! Not entirely sure I like this drawing, but I guess I do, so yeah whatevs. If anything it was fun drawing Mouse out of uniform since I don’t do that very often. And I love his street clothes too because hooray period piece.  And then there’s Goop there in the back as a shiny shiny manectric because I’ve never drawn Mouse with a puppy and I don’t like houndoom, so there. Pffffttthhhhbtttt.

But yes, Happy New Year to all you folks! Hope your 2014 gets off to a great start! And mine will start in… 10 minutes. Yes yes, very good.

P.S. Not sure how many of you ever noticed, but Mouse's story actually takes place in 1940. He was born in 1924, and he's 16 for most of the story. It spans from 1940 to 1941 though, since he has a birthday in there somewhere. XD But his regular uniform doesn't show the period super well since bomber jackets don't really look any different nowadays than they did back then. :I

Pokemon is copyright of course.

I like the sketchyness.

I had no clue what pokemon Menetric was in you drawing because he looked like a cool armored dog, that and he was a shiny. No cone head.

Yeah, I took a little freedom with Manectric's design there. XD

I figured Mouse was dated, but I also figured it was outside our universe, therefore our dates where moot. xD Makes the war thing make more sense though, lol.

Well, the pokemon universe kind of correlates with ours, very directly in some ways.  The war in End Run is supposed to be the war that Lt. Surge mentions in the games, which the ER creators likened to WWII.  They gave us relative dates for the project, which was an early 40's period as well, which further confirms the wwii thing. And then there was a previous war in ER (basically WWI) that would have been the one that Mouse's father was in, but that war wasn't fought with any pokemon.  The End Run war set up was an idea for how people first started using pokemon to battle. The pokeballs that they use are early prototype versions of the game ones (Mouse's require sort of a spring dial to open them) and the information they have about different breeds of pokemon is really limited. Which is why Mouse doesn't really know much about the pokemon he actually has (no pokedexes or anything.)  For them, pokemon are still wild animals that are more dangerous than "cute friendly let's train them" things. XD But in ER they started using pokemon because firearms were all rendered useless (the creators had some fancy reason for it. I think it had something to do with Mew basically screwing with everyone. XD) I dunno, it was all kind of complicated.

Basically, ER is equivalent to WWII, so Mouse is from the poke-equivalent of the 1940s. XD

woah. :O like, idek what End Run is, but that sounds pretty awesome. admittedly, my pokemon lore knowledge is severely lacking, i played the first red, gold, and now x. xD Thats about it really.... the show never really drew me in, though I can remember a bit from the first season, and I remember the first movie as well. o3o

Lol, End Run was the name of the project I originally created Mouse for. It was an OCT that actually just ended recently, that I had to drop out of due to time constraints.

And yeah a skipped a couple generations of games there in the middle (stopped at Yellow, picked it back up again at Pearl. Which sucked. XD) but I did watch the first season of the show pretty avidly. Me and my brothers would get up early every morning to watch it before elementary school. Because for some reason new episodes aired every morning at 7:00 Am. -_-

I love the style this is drawn in. The sketchyness really compliments the whole vintage 40's thing.
